Audience survey research

AUDIENCE DEMOGRAPHIC

This first bar chart shows us that the dominating majority of our audience consists of 18 year olds or more but a large amount of our audience is also around the age of 15 to 16 years old, using this information we can decide on a suitable age rating for our film that will appeal to as many people as possible, the most likely age rating to use would be a 15 as it appeals to the most people at the same time.

The pie chart shows us the main preferred sub-genre that they would like to be combined with our main Horror genre, as we can see the most dominant choice was the psychological approach that would involve scaring the audience without any direct contact with the antagonist like fighting, the follow up was an action horror that will contain gore and violence as well as direct confrontation of the antagonist. Our choice of sub-genre will be between these two.

This pie chart shows us that the main preferred conventional feature of a horror film is a jump scare that deliver a quick shock of fear into the viewer, we could combine this with the action genre style of film in order to create a very quick setup for a confrontation between the protagonist and villain.

The audience gender demographic bar chart shows us that a majority of our audience will be consisting of male viewers and a lesser amount of females will be a part of our audience, this information will lead us to design a film revolving around the appeal towards male viewers but will also involve some for of appeal to female viewers.

A majority of our audience seems to prefer the idea of some sort of psychopathic murdering villain that will be much more physical than other forms of villain since he will be utilising some sort of weapon like a blade or gun.
