During the filming process, we tried different camera shot that we have learned such as the over the shoulder shot, match of action shot and some others. Our video was done correctly and we have approved our filmed scenes but there are still some things that we can do to make our video better. We didn’t have the proper lighting and we also had a camera that made our video look blurry and it looked unprofessional. We could have also used a tripod stand to make our camera stable and easier to use.
The editing process was also overall good and we felt that the shots fit together smoothly as some shots seemed more continuous and were more fluent than other shots creating an effective viewing experience. The audio quality is also very poor as there are large amounts of background noise due to the poor microphone quality of the camera. What we could do to make our sound clearer is if we used a better camera or a better microphone.
We would plan out our filming better since it was slightly rushed in a short period of time and we would have a better idea of who goes where and who does what in the shots. Organisation is important for filming because it means we can get better results when editing the footage and reviewing it after.
We were able to work as a group and able to come up with an idea and film it in a short amount of time.
Next time we will use a different camera and set it up properly so that the image will look better. We would also try more different camera shot and skills to see which is more effective.
The different types of shots we used in our preliminary task were:
-
Tracking shot
-
Over the shoulder shot (x2)
-
Tracking shot
-
Match-on-action
Over the shoulder shot
The over shoulder shot was successful but the other shots it took us a few attempts to do it correctly. We are able to show an example which shows that we understand what is an over the shoulder shot. What's bad about this is that the lighting wasn’t that good. The camera wasn’t set up that well, the brightness, contrast and the temperature weren't set up perfectly. I feel like we should try this again because the image wasn’t perfect and there a lot that we can use to make the image better such as using a tripod to make it more stable.
Match on action
Here we have Nick walking past the camera. The camera shot that we used was a low, medium shot showing Nick’s uniform. The camera is set up on the side so that they are able to include the background and the person in the frames.
The next shot was a close, side shot of Nick's hand on the handle when he opens the door again not showing his face to create enigma code of wanting to know who the person is. This shot is good because it was able to make the scene more interesting.
