HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

CUT FROM BLACK:
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - EVENING
White text fades in ‘Sheffield 1974’ then fades out 5 seconds later.
The perspective is from outside a door frame looking into an interrogation room, leaning over a desk are DETECTIVE 1 and DETECTIVE 2, in-between them, the DETAINEE is looking nervous with his head facing down to the his right.
DETECTIVE 1
Just give us a solid answer son and you won’t have to stay here
The detainee turns his head to look up to his right and takes a deep breath, his voice trembling.
DETECTIVE 1
What were you doing in the forest?
DETECTIVE 2
It’s much easier to just tell us.
The detainee stares down at the table
DETECTIVE 2
(under his breath) Waste of fucking time.
DETECTIVE 1 looks over to DETECTIVE 2 walking towards the cabinet behind him
DETECTIVE 1
The more you tell us the more we can help you.
The detainee looks to DETECTIVE 1, breathes out, looks down and begins speaking.
DETAINEE
I was walking back to school. I have to take a path through the forest to get to my home. On the way home, I saw a something…
CUT TO NEXT SCENE:
FLASHBACK SEQUENCE
EXT. FOREST - DAY
The camera is on the forest floor amongst the leaves, the sound of birds is audible. Footsteps can be heard crunching on the forest floor. A foot steps in front of the camera, the shot lingers for a second, the camera pans up and around to the front of the person's head, lingers for a second and he walks past the camera.
The detainee carries on walking. The shot changes to a POV shot of someone watching the detainee walking. The detainee stops to see a figure in the distance, the camera makes 3 cuts with varying zooms towards the figure.
The camera closes in on the detainees face, wide eyed, showing him frozen in shock.
He grasps his ears as a piercing diegetic sound is heard, falling to the floor.
CUT TO NEXT SCENE:
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - EVENING
A close up shot is used on the detainees face which is staring blankly past DETECTIVE 1
Detective 2 is staring at the detainee unimpressed.
DETECTIVE 2
Bullshit.
Detective 2 walks off to light a cigarette and is seen pacing the room in the background.
DETECTIVE 1
I’m trying very hard to believe you son.
DETECTIVE 2 under his breath
DETECTIVE 2
Nicholas come on...
A closeup of DETECTIVE 2 shows him leaning on a cabinet smoking, the camera is facing him which shows the detainee in the background which is blurred.
DETECTIVE 1
Can you tell us anymore?
The focus changes to a deep focus that shows the detainee and DETECTIVE 1 at the table who both looks towards DETECTIVE 2 as he turns and shouts.
DETECTIVE 2
How can you believe this Nick?!
The shot switches behind the detainee between him and DETECTIVE 1 with DETECTIVE 2 in the middle shouting.
DETECTIVE 2
He’s wasting police time!
DETECTIVE 1
This is our job Howard.
The camera follows DETECTIVE 2 as he goes to sit down.
DETECTIVE 2
Oh yeah you’re right, let’s just listen.
The detainee looks at DETECTIVE 2 with sorrow and fear.
CUT TO NEXT SCENE
EXT. FOREST - DAY
The detainee is laying in a ditch and wakes up, groans after excessive movement and brushes himself off. He feels a sharp pain on his arm and sees that he is bleeding under his jumper, he rolls up his sleeve where he finds his arm is covered in strange lettering and patterns. He looks upwards towards the camera and the shot changes.
It is later on and he is running
