This is our first company logo example. After a group discussion about what we wanted for a logo we decided that it had to fit with the idea of the film (horror mystery), after establishing that it would involve an animal we decided that the animal will be a sheep, to add to the horror effect, we decided to add multiple effects in order to create a violent, bloody vibe to the image. The effects used were red eyes, large curved horns and blood splatters all over the screen. Each of these effects was intended to portray small indications to our target audience and viewers. The giant blood splatters bordering the screen were intended to convey to the audience that the type of films we make will mainly be mature and contain some form of blood or gore, the colour of the blood is a slightly pinkish red colour which contrasts well with the black horns of the sheep, all of the colours used are quite dark to convey a dark horror theme. The sheep's red eyes help add effect to the logo as it's a very uncommon portrayal of a sheep, the unconventional red-eyed sheep can be seen as a sign that our production group is unlike any other group. We attempted to use this logo in the introductory sequence of our movie but felt that it didn't fit into the tone and vibe that the movie provided so we chose to continue developing it.
In the end, we felt that our current logo didn’t meet our standards and didn’t convey the intended message in a proper way that shows the conventions intended. We decided to rehash the idea by simplifying it to a more modern look and including fewer colours which are emphasised more as a whole. We ended up with the logo shown below made on adobe illustrator, the process was rather simple and ended up providing a good result, the previous logo contained many blended halftones of grey and black which made editing with it difficult, our new logo is based on a colour scheme of only three colours, white, black and red which is more simplistic than the previous low-resolution mess of colours. We kept the idea of the sheep and the conventional blood to connote to the audience that we are a horror studio.
