Shot Examples
Close up
The project will likely use a lot of close up shots because it captures the emotions of the actors which humanises them and helps the audience relate to them. This close-up shot is shown after a story flashback sequence is shown including this actor, showing his trauma from the incident that happened prior to the interrogation. This is an example of ‘The Kuleshov Effect’.
Behind shot
This low shot from behind will look up the two detectives, this denotes power from the detectives and shows the room from the detainees perspective.
Vertigo effect (Dolly zoom)
One shot I would like to use in the movie is the vertigo effect where the camera lens is zoomed out whilst the camera is moved forward to seem like it is in the same position. An example of the lens size would be going from 35mm to 50mm.

- Slow zooming shot from behind detectives looking at the detainee’s face
- Close up shot of the detainee’s face
- Side view of characters talking with detective 2 in background
- Close up shot of Detective 1’s face to enhance emotional weight
- Same close-up shot of the detainee to show that they are levelling with each other
Abandoned greenhouse
- Hybrid tracking shot of detainee that merges into an establishing shot in one continuous take
- Low angle shot used to show dominance over the scene from the detainee, to begin with
- Hybrid long shot showing the detainee that merges into a close-up shot of the demonic object
- Close up shot of the object that turns to show the detainee’s face
- Full body shot showing the detainee holding the object to emphasise that he is snapping out of his transfixion of the object
- Panning shot to suggest the detainee is looking around for something
- Close up shot of the detainee to show his reaction to the scream
